About the score
One island. Thirty-three cues. No safe genre lane.
Isla Monstro began as an animated-series pitch before growing into Steven Shea’s feature film. The score keeps that handmade beginning in its DNA: Caribbean and soca influence, punk energy, synths, orchestra, theremin, percussion, guitars, bass, toy instruments, and character-driven sonic details all share the same world.
The album follows the movie from resort comedy and mutant-island chaos into larger adventure, creature-feature danger, and the more emotional palette of Act II. Robert performed live drums, bass, guitar, bongos, and melodica across the score.
